❚ Spring  (봄, "bom")   March to May

Spring in Korea is a beautiful season known for its cherry blossoms and vibrant blooms. The weather gradually warms up, and the landscapes come alive with colorful flowers and trees. Temperatures range from mild to warm, with average highs ranging from 13°C to 23°C (55°F to 73°F).

Spring is a popular time for outdoor activities and festivals, and many people visit parks to enjoy cherry blossoms, azaleas, and other blooming flowers. Some of the most popular places to see cherry blossoms in Korea include Yeouido Park in Seoul, Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival in Changwon, and Gyeonghwa Station in Jinhae.

❚ Summer  (여름, "yeoreum")   June to August

Summer in Korea is hot, humid, and often rainy. Temperatures rise, with average highs ranging from 22°C to 30°C (72°F to 86°F). July and August are the hottest months, and it's advisable to stay hydrated and seek shade during the peak heat of the day. Summer also brings the monsoon season, with intermittent heavy rain showers.

Despite the heat and rain, summer is a vibrant season with many outdoor festivals and beach activities. Some of the most popular beaches in Korea include Haeundae Beach in Busan, Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung, and Naksan Beach in Yangyang.

❚ Autumn/Fall  (가을, "gaeul")   September to November

Autumn is a favored season in Korea due to its pleasant weather, stunning foliage, and harvest festivals. The temperatures become more comfortable, ranging from mild to cool. Average highs range from 17°C to 26°C (63°F to 79°F) in September, gradually dropping to 5°C to 13°C (41°F to 55°F) in November. The landscapes transform into vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow as the leaves change.

Autumn is a great time for hiking, visiting parks, and enjoying outdoor activities. Some of the most popular places to see fall foliage in Korea include Naejangsan National Park in Jeongeup, Seoraksan National Park in Sokcho, and Daedunsan Provincial Park in Jeollabuk-do.

❚ Winter  (겨울, "gyeoul")   December to February

Winter in Korea is cold and often snowy, particularly in mountainous regions. Average temperatures range from -3°C to 4°C (27°F to 39°F), but they can drop even lower, especially during January and February.

Winter brings opportunities for winter sports like skiing and snowboarding, and there are many festivals and activities centered around ice and snow. It's important to dress warmly and be prepared for colder conditions. Some of the most popular places to enjoy winter sports in Korea include Pyeongchang, which hosted the 2018 Winter Olympics, and Yongpyong Ski Resort in Gangwon-do.

Each season in Korea has its own charm and unique attractions, so the best time to visit depends on personal preferences and the activities you wish to experience.

Spring and autumn are generally considered pleasant seasons with mild temperatures and beautiful scenery, while summer offers vibrant festivals and beach activities. Winter is ideal for those who enjoy winter sports and festive winter celebrations.

It's worth noting that these descriptions are general and can vary from year to year. It's always a good idea to check the weather forecast and specific events happening during your visit to plan accordingly. Regardless of the season, Korea offers a wealth of cultural and historical attractions, delicious food, and friendly locals, making it a must-visit destination.
